Three things to consider when choosing your domestic ladder

Te ofrecemos tres recomendaciones clave que debes tener en cuenta para elegir la escalera doméstica más adecuada para las tareas de tu hogar.

Ladders are indispensable tools in our homes for carrying out household and DIY tasks that involve reaching high areas. However, what aspects should we consider when choosing a sturdy and reliable domestic ladder? At Altipesa we have put together a series of tips and recommendations that you should bear in mind when opting for one ladder or another.

The ladder must provide safety and stability

Safety is one of the most important points to consider when buying a ladder. The domestic ladder must guarantee the necessary safety and stability while we are working at height. For this reason, we recommend choosing ladder models that incorporate anti-slip protection on the stiles, the steps and also on the platform. However, we must not forget that, once we are carrying out home DIY tasks, we must follow the appropriate safety rules to avoid the risk of falls.

  • End caps: These elements, in addition to being perfectly fitted to the stiles, must remain in good condition to prevent possible movement on the support surface. If the end caps show signs of significant wear from continuous use of the ladder or are missing, it will be advisable to replace them, as otherwise we will put our safety at risk. At Altipesa, we offer our customers and users the possibility of purchasing individual end caps for each of the stiles of our products.
  • Steps: The steps with anti-slip surfaces offered by Altipesa’s ladder models will provide you with maximum safety and stability in your household tasks, preventing possible slips during ascent or descent. In the case of our stepladders, which are perfect for your everyday home tasks, they have a tread with anti-slip ridges of at least 80 mm, reaching up to 120 mm on some references.
  • Platform: This part of the ladder provides us with a support base that allows us to stand more firmly on it. Our domestic ladder models incorporate an exclusive locking system that provides us with the safety, stability and firmness we need while carrying out our work at height. We also recommend opting for polypropylene (PP) platforms, a material that can support loads without suffering permanent deformation. With it, the durability of your domestic ladder is guaranteed!

The ladder must be foldable and easy to transport

If you need to buy your first ladder or replace the one you already have, the most appropriate choice is to select a ladder that is foldable and easy to transport. Why? Because these simple features will make your home DIY tasks much easier. The domestic stepladder models you will find at Altipesa have the particularity that, when folded on their side, they take up very little space and can be stored anywhere with great ease.

On the other hand, you should bear in mind that you will need a practical and easy-to-move ladder, as you will most likely need to use it in different rooms of your home. For this reason, we recommend domestic aluminium ladders which, being made from this lightweight material, can be moved from one place to another easily and comfortably. When transporting your domestic ladder, you should ensure it does not receive any knock that could cause significant damage that might affect your safety.

The ladder must comply with European Standard EN 131

When choosing the domestic ladder that best suits your needs, you must make sure it meets all the safety requirements established in European Standards. Altipesa’s domestic ladders comply with Standard EN 131, which sets out the safety characteristics that a ladder must have. Therefore, all our domestic ladders can support a maximum weight of 150 kg, including the weight of the tools we will use when carrying out our home DIY tasks.
